It depends on where it is located and how deep the fatty cyst is. I had one removed that was on my abdomen, it was quite deep and bigger than the surgeon anticipated. But, it didn't really hurt too much. Each of us have our own level of pain tolerance. As a rule, any surgical incision that is located more to the center of the body ( the nerve endings towards the center of the body are overlapped or doubled up),and if it near a bony prominence ( shoulder blade, hip bone etc.), it can tend to more uncomfortable because there is less meat/tissue over bony areas. Sense the lipoma is already painful then once it is removed and healed, the pain that you are now having will go away.

Avoid becoming stressed about getting pregnant. I had my left ovary removed because the doctor suspected cancer when I was 21. I had one child but wanted another. For to years I couldn't get pregnant.
I finally resolved myself to being happy with one child, when she was four I signed up for nursing school/college and became pregnant soon after which delayed my educaiton for another three years.
Also I would say that after surgery, you need to just give your body time to heal.

I find it odd that your surgeon didn't warn you they may come back, for example, I had a bone tumour and my doctor told me they sometimes come back. Both my mother and friends' doctors told them, too. You may want to call the nurse at the orthopedic surgeon's office or if you went to another kind of doctor before, you should consult with an orthopedict surgeon. That's their specialty.

its a minor surgery to remove a cyst. local anesthesia injected directly around the cyst. there'll be several injections around the site. the surgery takes less than an hour. you can probably go home around an hour or 2.
the only problem would be taking care of the incision. keep it clean. and change the dressing everyday while applying antiseptic. you can use over the counter dressing (something like stickers) to prevent it from getting wet when you take a bath.

My cousin had some facial cysts removed and they turned out to be a lot bigger than expected. She had to have a fat transplant from her leg to her face to fill the hole. Considering all the pulling around she had the result was great. I know where the scar is and I can hardly see it. If you didn't know it was there you wouldn't see it! Plastic surgeons can do an excellent job and scarring is minimised;
