Can a women still reproduce if she had and ovarian cyst removed? What are some of the side effects ?

I know a women who had this procedure done and wasn't sure if she could ever give birth.

Some women get cysts on their ovaries from time to time. While this may cause a little scarring, it shouldn't prevent her from having children. At worst, the scar tissue could prevent her ovary from releasing an egg. Since she has two ovaries, it could decrease her chance of pregnancy, but not end it all together. Keep in mind, I am talking about worst case scenario when I say her ovary is to the point where it can't release an egg. If this is a serious issue, tests such as an HSG (Hysterosalpingogram) can be done. Dye is injected into a woman's reproductive system while x-rays are taken. The dye shows up bright white on the x-ray and can show any places where blockages or abnormalities are located. It only takes about 10 minutes but usually has to be done at a hospital and costs around $1,300 (was covered undered insurance for me).

Reply:Yes she can, even if the entire ovary was removed she would still have a second ovary. If both ovaries are removed it would prevent pregnancy. Otherwise at worst the damage from the cysts/surgery might impair fertility.
Reply:As long as a woman still has an ovary and is ovulating she should still be able to get pregnant. She should ask her doctor and he can reassure her.

Reply:I've had twins and a son since I had a huge ovarian cyst rupture in me. They thought it was my appendix it was so bad but I've had no effects from it.
Reply:I had severe ovarian cysts for years, I had three surgeries to remove the cysts and have a lot of scar tissue on my ovaries.





But I had no trouble at all conceiving my 2 children.





So it shouldn't be a problem for her.
