I have a lump on myface, doctor said its a cyst....?

Although its really upsetting me she said they cant remove it as its on the face and they dont want to leave a scar, but its really visible, sore, and been there for a few years, getting bigger recently. Can i insist its removed?

Yes you can, and plastic surgery techniques will leave a scar which is a lot less visible than a cyst.

Reply:Just let me run something by you hey??? If it's a cyst then it would be filled with fluid, right?? So doesn't it make sense that you could eliminate it by using something on it that will draw fluid/pus out............... Try applying organic apple cider vinegar (2 tablespoons) mixed with baking soda (1 teaspoon) to the cyst as you would a cleanser, concentrating on other marks and scars as well. Rinse your face afterwards with a sponge and warm water !!! The results should be fabulous !!! My son had two of the biggest pus filled pimples on his elbow last night (he is only 9 years old) and they were swollen and red and angry looking too. Poor boy, I used the same remedy as I have just given you and within 20 minutes they had receded by 80% and he said the horrible achy pain had disappeared !!

Reply:Depending on where the cyst is it can be removed without a scar. I had one of these on my face between my bottom lip and my chin I had a oral surgeon take it out from the inside, no problem. If it hurts though it means it is infected and you need antibiotics for that go back to the Dr's.
Reply:FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR!!!! I just had surgery last week for a lump on my cheek that was there for years. Every time I went to my doctor I told him the thing reaked of odor, was getting larger, and beginning to get painful. His reply was always a "sebaceous cyst" nothing to worry about.


I took the liberty of going to an ear, nose and throat doctor who immediately told me the thing should have been removed years ago when it was very small and easy to extract. Now, he can't do it due to the complicity involving blood vessels and major facial nerves affected by this thing. It also had gone from "just under the skin" to deep within the facial muscles. His advice was a plastic surgeon as he thought some facial reconstruction might be required.


Last week I had it removed! Plastic surgeon was the best! Fortunately, he was able to remove it with minor complications, it is healing tremendously well, and I avoided a very complicated and expensive procedure!


DON"T WAIT! Some of these doctors go too far with their conservancy. Others are just incompetent!


Pain was very minimal, just took some Vicodin for a couple of days, able to eat and drink-no problem. Feel great today like nothing happened. Surgery was Feb 13th.

Reply:Yes you can tell them it's making you depressed, cry if you can. A scar is better than a lump. I've had a few removed. If done right the scar is small anyway.

The only problem is whether, in their view, the scar will be worse than the cyst. A cyst is a sac of semi-liquid or liquid mass. So when they remove it they have to make a cut as big as the cyst to pull it out. Also, following removal of cysts, its quite common that they grow back.


If its red %26amp; sore it could be infected, has the doc given you anti b's?


They only really remove cysts if they get infected, if its in a place that can be 'caught' eg scalp with hair brush or if its 'unsightly'


If it is causing you emotional distress %26amp; pain go back to the docs and speak up about how its upsetting you. Make sure you think what they say through though because you cant reverse the procedure if the scar is worse than you thought.
