I had my upper wisdom tooth pulled. Dentist found a cyst and lots of fluid came out.?

3 days later the open hole has a foul smell too it and I had to rinse puss out of my mouth in the morning. Is this a sign of infection? If so how do I rid myself of infection? No antibiotics have been prescribed so far.

Quite simply, you need to go to the dentist, have the area looked at and u need antibiotics.

Cysts and abscesses under dental roots often drain on extraction, however they can recur and an antibiotic is appropriate to kill this bacteria

Reply:yes, you need to get back to the dentist ASAP.

You'll probably need a chlorhexidine rinse and maybe oral antibiotics. But take care of it, the longer it goes on the worse it can get. Believe me, I was hospitalized two months ago for a similar thing when the dentist did not believe I had an infection and I did.
Reply:the cyst is likely filling up with this =better go to your Dr and ask about an antibiotic to take pus away
Reply:ew yeah i would say it sounds like an infection. go back to the dentist asap. it has both the foul smell and the pus it's defintiely infected. you need antibiotics before it causes damage to nerves and teeth. and gums. in the mean time rinse your mouth with salt water.
Reply:Are you following the instructions that the Dentist gave to you? You should have received a paper %26amp; a bag of gauze instructing you on this. It should say to rinse with warm salt water %26amp; call them if you get a fever or it bleeds after 3 days. Sounds like they forgot to stitch up the hole. Call them ASAP to ease your mind. It won't cost you anything to call them. I always insist on antibiotics just in case %26amp; for some reason the new modern dentists don't want to give you a prescription for them. It's really too bad because of things like this.
