I have an "overweight" friend with a "boil" or "cyst" problem, what medications or solutions would help?
Being overweight has nothing to do with boils or cysts.... first and foremost. Boils and cysts are probabely going to require a medication like minicycline or tetracycline to fix it. Consult a doc. and get a referral to a dermatologist.
Reply:Boils have to be treated with a course of antibiotics and should be seen by a Dr if he/she has an ongoing problem. They're caused by a staph infection and can spread if they're left untreated. Boils are extremely painful in most cases and must be drained fully before healing can begin. Warm soaks and heat compresses (moist or dry heat will do) help bring them to a head. Sometimes they have to be lanced by a Dr and packed with gauze and/or stitched once the infection has cleared. Using antibacterial soap and keeping his/her skin folds (you did mention that he/she is overweight) as dry and clean as possible should help keep further break outs at bay. I hope this helps.
