Is a Dermatologist the best professional to see about a cyst (under the armpit) and checking for cancer?

My girlfriend had checked with a Dermatologist, but now she's questioning whether she should check with another type of specialist.

Try and OBGYN or even an oncologist. The dermatologist can tell you what'd wrong on your skin or dermis but probably not what's on your gland system and a cyst under the armpit is a gland area. If it's swollen try a general doctor or an oncologist.
Reply:although a dermatologist is a doctor, the field of cancer isnt their field, when it comes to breast cancer or any other kind except maybe skin cancer. get it checked by a general doctor, that deal with this.
Reply:Any physician would evaluate the 'cyst' as a potential problem, and while a dermatologist could evaluate it well, a general practioner could do the same job. Many cysts are simple an accumulation of oils or perhaps a benign infection, some need drained because of pain, others can be left alone to be slowly resorbed. If there is doubt, check with another physician.
